The enamelled box is a treasure of the Huế Imperial court, which is used to contain offerings to the kings and members of the Nguyễn royal family.

- The box was made from copper and designed in shape of spheroid with two parts: the cover and the body-sole. The interior surface of the box is enamelled in turqouise, while the exterior is enamelled in blue and painted with multi-colours. In the middle of the cover, there is a decorative band with 8 bats flanking a blooming peony. Besides, the motifs of peony and other flowers and leaves are decorated densely on the cover and the body. The box has a flat base sticked with tripod, which is enamelled in white and decorated with geometric patterns.

This is the largest enamellel box and very typical for enamel technique of Huế citadel. It is deserved to preserve and bring into play the historical and cultural value.

The decorative patterns show highly royal style and reflect the elegance and nobility of the owner with motifs such as bats (the symbol of Five Blessings) and peony (the symbol of prosperity).

Although being introduced into Vietnam in the 1820s and only exsited for 60 years, the Huế enamelled industry has reached finely crafted level, bearing distinct characteristics and differed from other enamelled products from China, France or England-the homeland of the technique.

The box is a typical object of the Huế enamelled industry, and deserves to preseve and contemplate.
